We are rolling out two programs to assist workplaces to create mentally healthy workplaces. These are:

  1. Independent consultants, Assure Programs will be providing WHS advice for small and medium sized businesses across all industry types and
  2. Mental health training for Managers, being conducted by the Black Dog Institute and will be targeting medium sized businesses in high-risk industries.

Both programs will be offered in Sydney metro and in Gosford and Wyong on the NSW Central Coast. The programs will be extended to regional areas in 2019.

Free independent WHS advice for businesses

Free work health and safety (WHS) advice from Assure Programs, that will help you support your workers to be their best every day and improve the productivity and success of your business.

The program involves a representative from Assure Programs, helping you to see how well your business manages mental health. Your business data will be kept confidential and any data reported or shared will be de-identified. Tailored expert guidance and resources will be provided to help you develop a  mentally healthy workplace development plan. The plan will help your business build your capability to assess and manage workplace factors that impact mental health.

The following areas will be considered:

  • leadership, policies and processes
  • managing workplace factors
  • creating a positive culture, education and training and
  • support services and tools.

The expert WHS consultancy program is for small and medium sized businesses across all industry types.

This program will initially be rolled out to Sydney metro and Gosford/Wyong on the Central Coast of NSW. The program will be extended to regional areas in 2019.

Free training for managers

As a manager, you have a unique opportunity to support your team to be their best every day and impact the productivity and success of your business.

Free manager training will be conducted by the Black Dog Institute and is now available to help you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to, support your team, enable flexible work where it’s possible, design work and workspaces that promote wellbeing, and prevent factors that impact mental health.

It also means, when workers face challenges, you can recognise early signs of mental ill-health and use appropriate strategies to support their recovery at work.

The manager training program is targeting medium sized businesses in the following high-risk industries:

  • professional, scientific and technical services
  • information media/telecommunications
  • transport, postal and warehousing; and
  • manufacturing.
